The Xgrain website is a gateway which provides access to two on-line facilities of service quality for the Distributed National Electronic Resource content infrastructure: (1) A broker service for DNER portals for cross-searching between Z39.50-compliant Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) database and electronic Tables of Contents (ETOC) services; and (2) an end-user portal to allow students, researchers and academics to conduct easy "shallow" cross-searching across the specialist bibliographic services (eg A&I database and ETOC services) as well as ¿in-depth¿ searching of the native interfaces where required. The site also contains key project records relating to the project"s background; description; workshops; presentations; and contacts. Project dates: 1 Jan 2000 - 31 Jul 2003. Funded by the JISC Infrastructure Programme.
