The British Weights and Measures Association (BWMA) is a pressure group campaigning for the retention of imperial measurements in the UK, in the face of increased moves towards the metric system, driven by Britain"s membership of the European Union (EU). As such, the ideas the organisation espouses can be seen part of the wider milieu of British euroscepticism, although the BWMA is at pains to point out it has no opinion on British EU membership. The BWMA was founded by Vivian Linacre. The current body was established in 1995, but there was also a predecessor organisation, also called the BWMA, that was established in 1904, and lapsed after the First World War.
