The Disability Alliance seeks to break the link between poverty and disability, through the provision of information to disabled people regarding their entitlement to state benefits. The Alliance came about when the Disablement Income Group (DIG) split in the early 1970s, producing both the Alliance, and the Union of Physically Impaired Against Segregation (UPAIS).
