ICON: the Institute of Conservation is an organisation dedicated to the preservation of Britain"s cultural heritage, covering the spectrum from personal items to major public buildings. ICON came about through a merger of the following groups: Care of Collections Forum; the Institute of Paper Conservation (IPC); the Photographic Materials Conservation Group; the Scottish Society for Conservation and Restoration (SSCR); the United Kingdom Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (UKIC).
