Search tips

Tips with icons open and close on click.

• Search by full text

  For a single website when you don't know the Title or the URL, or for finding different websites featuring a precise phrase. Use the most specific wording you can.

• Search by title and / or URL

  When you know the title of a specific website or the URL (Uniform Resource Locator), or know just a word in the title or URL

• Refine search to Subjects

  When you think the site will have been given one of the Archive's very broad subject headings, such as "Arts & Humanities" and "Science & Technology‘. Alternatively use Browse Subject for narrower headings.

• Refine search to Special Collections

  When you think the site will have been included in one of the Archive's Special Collections. Alternatively use Browse Special Collections.
