Imkaan is an umbrella body for the Asian women's refuge sector. It seeks to "provide strategic advocacy and targeted organisational support to refuges serving the needs of Asian women and children experiencing domestic violence." Other functions undertaken include lobbying, research and capacity-building in the sector. The organisation was established by two existing bodies, the Newham Asian Women's Project (NAWP), and the Asian Women's Resource Centre (AWRC). Company no. 4943395, charity no. 1105976.
