  Association of Radical Midwives

This site is part of the "Women's Issues" collection.

This site was selected for preservation by the British Library and is archived regularly. The publisher's site may provide more information.

Created in 1976 by two student midwives disappointed with the increasing medicalisation and intervention in maternity care, the association exists to give support and information to midwives and women having difficulty in giving or accessing woman-centred, evidence based midwifery care. It has quarterly national meetings (as well as local meetings organised by local branches). The association also has a very active e-mail discussion group and a quarterly journal. It also provides a help-line. Source: Dango database of archives of non-governmental organisations at http://www.dango.bham.ac.uk/
